The AFS-Genetics Section is glad to announce student support for the 16th International Symposium on the Biology and Management of Coregonid Fishes to be held September 21-25, 2026 in Port Elgin Ontario Canada. This meeting provides a unique opportunity for students studying genetics of coregonine fishes to interact with an international group of experts and to learn about ongoing research, management, and stewardship of this fascinating group of fishes.
The AFS-Genetics Section will be providing up to two (2) $650USD awards to student members (Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD). If you are working on a project related to coregonine genetics and are interested in applying for this award, please submit an abstract (250 words or less) for a presentation or poster to Wendylee.Stott@dfo-mpo.gc.ca by July 3, 2026. The abstract should include, title, presentation type (poster, presentation), any co-authors and their affiliations, your program, year of study, and your supervisor’s name and email. You should be a member of the AFS-Genetics Section to apply for the award.
